Barbara Jean (Howard) Jones

Barbara Jean (Howard) Jones, age 67, of Braddock and formerly of the Hill, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA.  She was born May, 24 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA and was considered a change of life baby.  Barbara also known as (Barb) was preceded in death by her longtime companion Robert Merriman, mother Rosa Howard and father Demus Howard. Her sisters Pearl Wilson and Doralie Howard also preceded her in death leaving her to be the last known sibling. She was a graduate of Schenley High school class of 1969, shortly after graduation she went on to CCAC Community College to pursue a degree in business, and later further her education in healthcare. Barbara worked for Mercy Hospital and John J Kane Regional Center in Pittsburgh PA for many years before relocating to Clarksburg WV in the mid 90s. After relocation she pursued a career as a data entry clerk with Interim Health Care and later became an in-home childcare provider until she later retired and relocated back to Pittsburgh, PA in late 2015.
Barb was the Rock of her family. Her children and grandchildren where always a priority, next to her God.  Barb leaves behind her husband Manning Jones Jr. Pittsburgh PA, her daughter Danielle Harris and her husband Jonathan Harris Sr. and their children Jennifer Williams and her husband Christopher Williams, Tanner Harris and Tirrell Harris of Clarksburg WV, Jonathan Harris Jr and long-term companion Meekayl Taylor of Fairmont WV, her son Paul Howard and his wife Jasmine Howard Pittsburgh PA, and their children Jordan Howard, Aronde (PJ) Howard and Shania Slade Pittsburgh, PA. Her daughter Mia Jones, and her children Juwan Jones-Wright and Jakaya Jones of Cheat Lake, WV, and a Host of great grandchildren who adored her, Jeremih Williams, Amari-Prince Williams, Zayden Harris, Aaliyah Lothes, Ka’vian Harris, and Braya Taylor.  A Special Thanks to Everyone who showed so much love and support, the medical team at Forbes Hospital Monroeville PA, who provided excellent care, empathy, and understanding during this difficult time, her nephew Kevin Wright, best friend of many years Eileen Harris, daughter-in-law Jasmine Howard and longtime friend Tiffany Stamps who showed an over whelming amount of love and support. Barb truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way, with her big bright smile, laughing ability, and her loving caring and giving manner she will always be missed and there will always be a void in the heart of the ones who knew her that will never be filled.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday March 06, 2019 from 11 am-1 pm in the Elmer L. Herman Funeral Home, 5204 Second Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15207.  Going Home Services in the funeral home at 1:00 pm.  Internment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
