Joseph Kapton Obituary

Joseph Frank Kapton, of Henderson-Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Carnegie,

Husband of the late Evie Kapton.  Son of the late of the late Frank J. and Teresa Kapton.  Brother of Virginia Riegner, Charlotte, Harry, Constance and the late Suzanne Kapton.  Godfather of Matthew; nephews and nieces: Amanda, Patty Scotti (Steve), Stephanie Richards, Steven Scotti, Daniel Riegner (fiancee Melissa Green),  Doug Riegner,  Keegan and Kennidi Green.
Joe lived in Carnegie until the family moved to McDonald. Attended St Luke Grade School, Canevin High School where he was a drummer in the school band. He graduated from Carnegie Tech (now CMU) as a music  (percussion) major.
Following graduation he moved to southern Florida and was part of a band that cut a record, worked in a Childrens hospital teaching music & leather art skills. He followed the sun and sports from rafting in Ohiopyle to Denver for golf & skiing. He later moved to Las Vegas and married Evie who he knew from Fla.  Evie was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Joe became her caregiver.  He was happiest when Evie told him she wanted to die as a Catholic.  He taught her about the Faith for several years and a priest came to their home periodically until he advised she could receive the sacraments.  He continued to be her mothers caregiver in a nursing home for many years following Evie’s passing.
