Vanessa R. Jones, age 63, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Tuesday, September 16 2025.
Vanessa Ruth Williams-Jones was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on October 7, 1961
to Betty Jean Robinson and George Arnold Williams.
At a young age, the family moved to the Pittsburgh area, where she grew up.
Vanessa graduated in 1979 from Wilkinsburg High School. She is a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
Vanessa continued her education by attending Job Corps in Clarksburg, WV,
where she received her Certification as a Nursing Assistant.
She was employed as a CNA at the Department of Veterans Affairs for over ten years.
She loved working in the health system, helping people.
She also learned computer programming with the help of her sister, Theresa.
Her Grandchildren were Vanessa’s pride and joy.
She loved to travel and took every opportunity to travel to see her Grands.
She was loyal to her Family and they could always depend on Vanessa to lend a listening ear
and provide words of encouragement. She was famous for her pies, especially sweet potatoe.
Vanessa was a member of New Testament Missionary Baptist Church,
where she served as a Deaconess and on the Missionary Board.
She returned to Church on September 6th to serve Communion for the first time since her illness.
Vanessa was overjoyed and grateful that she was able to serve by herself
and was encouraged to continue to keep God at the center of her life.
She leaves to cherish her memory her Husband of over twenty years, James E. Jones;
Daughters, Ebony Adjonko of Wichita, TX (Koami), Brittany Anderson of Philadelphia, PA (Qadihr)
and Tiffany Williams of Pittsburgh, PA; Sister, Theresa Benning of Pittsburgh, PA (Cornelius);
and Brother, Louis Gideon III of Naples, FL (Gwen);
Grandchildren, Camryn, Ny’Ahra, Nydia, Amora, Nyomi, Kartier, Olyvia
and a grandson on the way; as well as loving Nieces, Nephews, cousins
and a host of Friends who will miss her dearly.
Vanessa was preceded in death by her Mother, Betty Jean Robinson and Sister, Lynette Williams.
Though she is no longer with us, her memory lives on through the many lives she touched.
Friends and Family will be received on Tuesday, September 23 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
